Ambuja Manovikas Kendra athletes triumph at World Summer Special Olympics 2015

Ambuja Manovikas Kendra’s two stellar athletes from Ropar District have won accolades in the cycling and basketball categories at the recently organized World Summer Special Olympics 2015 that was held in Los Angeles.

Ms Meera Kumari showcased her exceptional skills in Cycling and emerged as a proud recipient of a Gold Medal, while Mr Pawandeep Singh secured a Bronze in theBasketball category.

Commenting the outstanding achievement, Mr. Suresh Thakur (Principal) Ambuja Manovikas Kendra, said “We are extremely proud of the achievements of both our star athletes. It is another feather in their caps and this time at an internationally acclaimed level. These victories are a testament of their sheer endurance and dedication. We wish them all the very best with many more accomplishments to come in the future.”

Both Meera Kumari and Pawandeep Singh underwent rigorous training over the past couple of years, to prepare themselves for the World Summer Special Olympics 2015. Meera is not only a star cyclist, but she has also won various accolades for singing at State level competitions. Pawandeep has commendable basketball skills and has done AMK proud at various State level tournaments.

Ambuja Manovikas Kendra is the only facility for special children in the entire district of Ropar filling the gaps in essential services towards them. At present the school caters to 71 children, all broadly fitting into the category of mentally challenged, and provides them with a conducive environment tailored to meet individual developmental needs.
